Idiopathic Segmental Infarction of the omentum is relatively rare. The occurrence of infarction is unrelated to trauma, torsion, cardiovascular disease, adhesion, or other intra-abdominal pathological conditions, and is an acute vascular disease of the omentum of unknown etiology. It is also known as 'spontaneous omental infarction' or 'hemorrhagic infarction of the omentum'.
