Accumulation of breath

'Accumulation of breath' refers to a condition where the underwaist feels distended, with difficulty in breathing, or has tangible masses. The patient has fullness in the sides and difficulty in breathing, which persists for two or three years without relief, and is named as 'accumulation of breath'. The term 'message' refers to the alternation of Yin and Yang. Now, Qi gathers in the sides, stops and does not dissipate, leading to accumulation without dispersal, causing fullness and reversed breathing, thus leading to disease. However, since the Qi is not in the stomach, it does not interfere with eating. It only harms the Qi. Treatment should focus on guidance and medication, as medication alone cannot be effective. This is because guidance and exercise can disperse the accumulated Qi, and the efficacy of the medicine also relies on guidance and exercise.

1. What are the causes of the onset of 'accumulation of breath'?

It is caused by the lung failing to descend and the long-term stagnation of lung Qi. The underwaist feels distended, with difficulty in breathing, and may have tangible masses. 'Accumulation of breath' refers to Qi stagnation in the sides, not between the internal organs and the defensive and nutritive Qi, forming over time. Qi does not affect the stomach, so it does not interfere with eating. Only the right side of the underwaist may feel full and breathing difficult, without any visible masses. Treatment should focus on regulating Qi flow, with formulas such as San Yin Hua Qi decoction, Mu Xiang Tiao Qi powder, and the use of guidance and exercise methods.

2. What complications can 'accumulation of breath' easily lead to?

This condition is prone to complications such as abdominal distension, difficulty in breathing, and fatigue. The patient may experience fullness in the sides, difficulty in breathing, frequent recurrence without relief, and is named as 'accumulation of breath'. Due to Qi stagnation, it accumulates in the sides, not between the internal organs and the defensive and nutritive Qi, forming over time. Qi does not affect the stomach, so it does not interfere with eating. Moxibustion may lead to internal burning of fire, while acupuncture may stir up the meridian. Even with the administration of digestive medicine, it cannot be treated alone. It is advisable to dissipate the accumulation and assist with guidance and exercise.

The underwaist feels distended. This may be due to an imbalance of Qi and blood in the liver channel, or invasion of pathogenic factors into the Shaoyang meridian. When the liver is distended, the underwaist feels full and painful, with pain radiating to the lower abdomen. After four or five days of illness, the patient may have fever, aversion to wind, stiff neck, fullness in the sides, warm hands and feet, and thirst. The Xiaochaihu decoction is indicated for such symptoms.

3. What are the typical symptoms of mass

Symptoms include chest and hypochondriac fullness, Qi reversal in breathing, but does not interfere with eating. The mass is not in the middle but below the hypochondrium. Initially, it is small, but over time it becomes larger, causing fullness in the hypochondrium, Qi reversal, and difficulty in breathing. The mass is below the left hypochondrium, commonly known as痞, and children are particularly prone to this disease. If the diet is too heavy, the spleen is not enough to transform, the remaining Qi stagnates and aggregates, the root is between the ribs, and the disease of Yangming is severe, then it is connected to the lung.

4. How to prevent mass

Mass is caused by lung Qi failing to descend and lung Qi being stagnated for a long time. The symptoms include fullness in the hypochondrium, Qi reversal, and difficulty in breathing, or there may be palpable masses. There are no effective preventive measures, and early detection and treatment are the key to prevention.

5. What laboratory tests are needed for mass

This disease is diagnosed through observation, listening, asking, and touching.Side pain caused by excessive liver Qi or Qi stagnation transforming into fire. The symptoms include easy anger, pain in the hypochondria that extends to the lower abdomen, bitter and sour mouth, or irritability, or thirst, or hot defecation and urination, or rapid, tense, and full pulse..

6. Dietary taboos for patients with mass
