1. What are the causes of bladder bi?

Bladder Bi is caused by the invasion of pathogenic factors such as wind-cold-dampness into the bladder, leading to abnormal gasification of the bladder, resulting in abdominal distension and pain, and difficulty in urination. It is also known as bladder bi. Generally, it is due to the long-term presence of wind-cold-dampness in the bladder, causing deficiency of both yin and coldness, and abnormal gasification. Symptoms include abdominal distension, pain that is resistant to palpation, difficulty in urination, and clear nasal discharge. 'Su Wen · Discussion on Bi': 'The pain in bladder bi is felt in the lower abdomen when the bladder is palpated, and it is as if it is irrigated with hot water, making urination difficult, and producing clear nasal discharge.' Treatment should be to warm the yang and promote diuresis, and use formulas such as Shen Zhe Decoction, Ba Ji Pill, and Jin Gui Shen Qi Pill. There are also cases caused by damp-heat accumulation in the bladder, and treatment should be to clear heat and resolve dampness. Use formulas such as Shen Li Decoction and Ba Zheng San.

2. What complications can Bianbi easily lead to

Bianbi, as said in the Internal Classic: The bladder in the lower abdomen, palpated, is painful; if it is bathed with soup, urination is涩, and there is clear nasal discharge. The bladder stores body fluid and is transformed by Qi. When the pathogenic Qi blocks it, the water Qi does not flow, then it accumulates and generates heat, and accumulates into mass, so it is painful when palpated; if it is bathed with soup and urination is涩. The straight line of the foot Taiyang meridian, starting from the top of the head, enters the brain network, if the pathogenic Qi cannot descend to the bladder, it must reverse upwards to the brain. The brain Qi descends and exudes through the nostrils, and it becomes clear nasal discharge.

3. What are the typical symptoms of Bianbi

Since this disease is caused by the long-term invasion of wind, cold, and dampness into the bladder, causing the bladder to be空虚 and cold, and Qi transformation to be abnormal. Therefore, the main symptoms are: abdominal distension, pain that is resistant to palpation, difficulty in urination, or accompanied by clear nasal discharge, etc.

4. How to prevent Bianbi

There is currently no effective preventive measure for this disease. Early detection and early diagnosis are the key to the prevention and treatment of this disease.

  1. Develop good living habits.

  2. Maintain a good mood, stable emotions, and healthy eating habits; eat more fruits and vegetables, and improve self-immunity.

  3. People who must work in places with heavy smoke should take every possible measure to protect themselves. For example, wear a mask, go out to breathe some fresh air regularly, and at least have a check-up once a year.

  4. Keep away from smoke, alcohol, drugs, radiation, pesticides, noise, volatile harmful gases, and toxic and harmful heavy metals, etc.

5. What kind of laboratory tests are needed for Bianbi

Since this disease is caused by the long-term invasion of wind, cold, and dampness into the bladder, causing the bladder to be空虚 and cold, and Qi transformation to be abnormal. Therefore, in diagnosis, a TCM physician can make a clear diagnosis by combining the four diagnostic methods of observation, listening, inquiring, and palpation. No special examination is needed.

6. Dietary taboos for Bianbi patients

The diet of Bianbi patients should be light and easy to digest, with an emphasis on eating more fruits and vegetables, a reasonable diet, and ensuring adequate nutrition. In addition, patients should also pay attention to avoiding spicy, greasy, and cold foods.

7. Conventional Methods of Western Medicine for Treating Bianbi

Bianbi is caused by the invasion of pathogenic factors such as wind, cold, and dampness into the bladder, leading to abnormal Qi transformation in the bladder, resulting in abdominal distension and pain, and difficulty in urination. Treatment should be based on warming Yang and diuretic. Recipes include Shenzhuo Decoction, Baiji Pill, and Jinkui Kidney Qi Pill, etc. There are also cases caused by damp-heat accumulation in the bladder, and the treatment should be based on clearing damp-heat. Recipes include Shenli Decoction and Bazheng Powder, etc.
