1. What are the causes of the onset of the five internal organs obstruction?

The etiology of the five internal organs obstruction is mainly due to the prolonged non-healing of the obstruction syndrome, recurrence of wind, cold, and dampness, causing the obstruction syndrome to develop from tendons, meridians, bones, muscles, and skin to the internal organs that are in harmony with them, resulting in injury to the internal organs and the corresponding appearance of liver obstruction, heart obstruction, kidney obstruction, spleen obstruction, and lung obstruction, etc. It can also be caused by internal deficiency of Qi and blood, consumption of Yin essence, or failure of Yang Qi to circulate, with evil Qi attacking the空虚, accumulating in the chest and abdomen.

5. What kind of laboratory tests are needed for the five internal organs obstruction?

The 'Ten Questions Song' can be used to make inspections.

On the basis of summarizing the key points of previous diagnoses, the Ming Dynasty physician Zhang Jingyue wrote the 'Ten Questions Song', and Chen Xiuyuan of the Qing Dynasty slightly modified and supplemented it as follows:

First ask about chills and fever, second ask about sweating, third ask about the head and body, fourth ask about defecation.

Five questions about diet and six about the chest and abdomen, seven deafness and eight thirst should be distinguished.

Nine questions about old diseases, ten questions about causes, and also take medication and observe changes.

Women must ask about the menstrual period, late or early closure, or metrorrhagia can be seen.

Add a few words to tell pediatrics, smallpox and measles are all tested.

The content of 'Ten Questions Song' is concise and to the point, which can be used as a reference for asking and examining the condition of five-organ obstruction. However, in actual diagnosis, it is necessary to ask flexibly and focus on the specific condition of the patient, and not to ask mechanically in the same way.

6. Dietary taboos for patients with five-organ obstruction

  1. First, you can eat more foods with a mild nature. I usually eat more beef, chicken, fish, and rice, and I often drink sweet potato syrup after meals, which can not only nourish blood and prevent qi deficiency but also clear heat, detoxify, and dissipate summer heat.

  2. In addition to these foods with a mild nature, I will make chestnut glutinous rice porridge on weekends, which is to cook glutinous rice first, then add the ground chestnut powder, stir it into a thick porridge, and it can be eaten. For me, this porridge usually has a mild and nourishing blood and deficiency effect.

  3. Eating yam is also a very good dietetic recipe. Yam can alleviate the symptoms of human qi deficiency and prevent qi deficiency. Often eating yam porridge or adding yam to soup can be easily absorbed by the human body, thus working better.

7. Conventional methods of Western medicine for treating five-organ obstruction

Since 'the treatment of diseases is not clear about the internal organs and meridians, and it is wrong to open the mouth and move the hands.' Therefore, for those with 'excessive qi, shortness of breath, and obstruction in the lung,' treatment should be focused on the lung. For those with 'excessive qi, worry and anxiety, and obstruction in the heart,' treatment should be focused on the heart. For those with 'excessive qi, enuresis, and obstruction in the kidney,' treatment should be focused on the kidney. For those with 'excessive qi, exhaustion, and obstruction in the liver,' treatment should be focused on the liver; for those with 'excessive qi, muscle atrophy, and obstruction in the spleen,' treatment should be focused on the spleen. As Lin Peiqin said in 'The Classification of Symptoms and Treatments': 'Five organs with obstruction, when the disease attacks the internal organs, the evil is stronger than the healthy qi, and the Five Obstruction Decoction (ginseng, poria, angelica, white peony, chuanxiong, white atractylodes, fructus schisandra, asarum). For kidney obstruction, add duhuo, cinnamon, duzhong, niuxi, huangqi, and bashe. For liver obstruction, add juanzi and chaihu. For heart obstruction, add yuanzhi, poria, maimendong, and xijiao (modernly banned). For spleen obstruction, add houpu, zhi shi, sharen, and shenqu. For lung obstruction, add banxia, xingren, mahuang, and ziyuan.
