Summer Heat Syndrome

　　The symptoms start with vomiting and diarrhea, followed by severe epigastric and abdominal pain; or start with severe epigastric and abdominal pain followed by vomiting and diarrhea, chest and diaphragm distension, blurred vision, generalized swelling, inability to lift the limbs, stiff tongue and inability to speak. 'Summary of Summer Heat Syndrome': The summer heat syndrome is the closure of Qi and the reversal of fire. The summer heat syndrome is mainly caused by the struggle of the three Qi of wind, dampness, and fire. During the summer and autumn, when the three Qi of wind, dampness, and heat are strong, if people overwork or rest excessively, they are prone to catch evil, and the summer heat syndrome often occurs; if the body is weak, summer heat or summer dampness and turbid Qi may invade the body when there is a weakness.

　　When suffering from the Taiyang channel, there will be headache and fever; when affected by the Shaoyang channel, there will be swelling around the ear, alternating chills and fever; when affected by the Yangming channel, the face will appear as if on fire, hot without chills; when affected by the Taiyin channel, there will be abdominal pain; when affected by the Jueyin channel, there will be lower abdominal pain or chest and hypochondriac pain; when affected by the Shaoyin channel, there will be lumbar pain and the whole body will feel cool. When affected by the lung, there will be cough, sputum, slight fever, and in severe cases, nosebleed; when affected by the heart, there will be heartache or heart palpitations, cold sweat on the forehead like pearls, and the body may feel hot or cool; when affected by the bladder, there will be hematuria in urine, and in severe cases, fever; when affected by the large intestine, there will be dysentery with pus and blood, and in severe cases, vomiting and fever; when affected by the liver, there will be heaviness and inability to turn over, postprandial fever, internal heat, and in severe cases, vomiting blood; when affected by the Sanjiao, there will be internal invasion of heat-toxin, with thirst above and constipation below. Treatment of the summer heat syndrome should differentiate between coolness and heat in the body: those with coolness should be treated internally, and those with heat should have their skin permeated.

　　If sand Qi is in the skin Qi, there are hidden red spots on the rash, like pulse rash, called 'Red Sand'; if the toxicity of sand Qi is stored in the muscle and blood, there is general swelling and pain, and there are black spots, called 'Black Sand'. If the condition is serious, there may be chills and fever, headache, chest or abdominal swelling or pain, or dizziness and throat pain, or vomiting and diarrhea, or waist like a belt, or nails black, or numbness of hands and feet, etc.

　　1. Defecation and urination should be smooth

　　If sand Qi affects the bowels, it is urgent to release sand Qi to attack it; if urination is not smooth, sand Qi should be released to divide and benefit.

　　2. Throat treatment method

　　If sand Qi affects the throat, it will cause shortness of breath like a saw, and the sand should be released first. Urgently use mint, mastic, child's urine, and Sophora japonica root to clear it, or use Bingpeng powder to absorb it. Then, the rest of the symptoms should be treated slowly.

　　3. Eradicate the root of sand Qi

　　The harm of sand Qi, although cured, if there is any residue, it will reactivate its toxicity, and it will spread all over the body, just like the one on the surface has been scraped. The one in the middle has been released; and the one inside has few residues. If one eats rice or hot soup, hot wine, the toxicity of sand Qi will reactivate, attacking from the inside to the outside, and then spread all over the body. If the inside and outside are all treated, but the middle has not been released, it will also spread all over the body. Such a terrifying situation is truly related to life and death, not comparable to miscellaneous diseases, so the root of sand Qi should be eradicated.

　　In addition to clinical manifestations, related auxiliary examination methods are also indispensable for the diagnosis of sand Qi, such as platelet count (PLT), urine routine, blood routine, stool routine, and body temperature measurement.

　　In addition to conventional treatment, the following aspects of diet should also be paid attention to for sand Qi patients:

　　1. Drink hot ginger and red date soup.

　　2. Diet should be light.

　　The healer must first open the Qi, subdue the Fire, and then the swelling can be eliminated. If the Qi of the sand is blocked above, it should be vomited; if the Qi of the sand is blocked below, it should be guided. Therefore, treating swelling must treat Qi, and treating Qi must treat blood.
