Vaginosis caused by Haemophilus vaginalis is caused by Haemophilus vaginalis infection.

  2. Pathogenesis

The Haemophilus vaginalis is small in size, with rounded ends, measuring 0.3-0.5nm in length and 0.1-0.2nm in width, resembling cocci, and Gram-negative. Haemophilus vaginalis causes congestion and edema of the vaginal mucosa, and the vaginal pH is often 5.0-5.5.

2. What complications can vaginosis caused by Haemophilus vaginalis easily lead to

Complications of vaginosis caused by Haemophilus vaginalis include: vulvar congestion and edema, vaginal mucosal congestion, sometimes with petechiae. The secretion is grayish-white, thin, sometimes in small foamy form, with a fishy smell of leukorrhea. One-third of the patients have vulvar itching or burning sensation, and sometimes dyspareunia.

It is often accompanied by the presence of anaerobic Gram-negative bacilli and Gram-positive cocci. During treatment, complications such as fungal, proteus, or staphylococcal infections may occur, and it often coexists with trichomonal vaginitis and gas vaginitis.

3. What are the typical symptoms of vaginosis caused by Haemophilus vaginalis

  1. The main symptoms are increased leukorrhea, a fishy or ammonia smell, often accompanied by vaginal burning sensation, dyspareunia, and vulvar itching.

  2. The examination shows that the vaginal mucosa is congested,呈灰红色, with mild edema. The secretion is usually homogeneous, thin, grayish-white, sometimes milky yellow or gray-green, with a fishy smell.

Abstain from sexual activity during treatment, and both males and females should be treated simultaneously. Pay attention to personal hygiene and enhance the body's resistance.

Haemophilus vaginalis vaginitis often occurs in women of childbearing age who are physically weak and have poor personal hygiene. Some patients may have no symptoms, while others may have mild symptoms, only with increased leukorrhea, foul smell, and peculiar smell. (2) Vaginal medication: Prepare suppositories with 100mg of tetracycline or 0.5g of sulfathiazole, insert them deeply into the vagina, once a day, for 10 days as a course of treatment. Since anaerobic bacteria may be the pathogenic bacteria of vaginitis along with Haemophilus, metronidazole 250mg can be taken orally three times a day for 7 days, or 2g can be taken orally once, with significant efficacy. However, taking a large dose of metronidazole may cause nausea and vomiting. Abstain from sexual activity during treatment, and both partners should be treated at the same time.
